When it came to the beauty industry, many big brands failed for many years to be inclusive of all skin tones. Even while there has been progress, there is still much work to be done before ALL women are fairly represented in the beauty industry. W Magazine says: "As it stands now, Pat McGrath and Fenty Beauty are two of the seven Black-owned brands sold at Sephora—out of a whopping 290 brands total. That means black-owned beauty brands make up less than three percent of products sold at the retailer". Sephora have since taken part in "The 15 Percent Pledge", in which they pledged to give 15 percent of their shelf space to products from Black-owned brands at each store. A welcomed small step in the right direction! Below I have listed some of my favourite Black Owned Beauty Brands!
